Michalyn Ourso is the new Principal of Lake Elementary.

Ourso brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role. Before stepping into this leadership position, she served most recently as assistant principal at Prairieville Primary and as an instructional coach at Prairieville Primary. She also held the role of administrative intern at both Pecan Grove Primary and Prairieville Middle. Her teaching career includes significant contributions at Lake Elementary, Central Middle, and Dutchtown Middle schools.

With 16 years of educational experience in Ascension Parish, Ourso has a deep-rooted connection to the community. She is a proud former student of Lake Elementary and a graduate of St. Amant High School. She continued her academic journey at Louisiana State University (LSU) and earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University.

She resides in St. Amant with her husband, Luke, and their three children: Owen, Ellyn, and Amelia. She is committed to fostering a positive and enriching environment for the students and staff at Lake Elementary.

“I am incredibly excited to return to Lake Elementary, a place that feels like home to me since I was once a student there. I look forward to achieving great things for the students and staff and am eager to get started. While I know I have big shoes to fill, I couldn't be more thrilled to embark on this journey,” said Ourso.
